Description:
A photographic slide in a small cardboard Kodachrome frame (brown with red trim). The frame is labeled "July 4 1951" in handwriting. The image shows a body of water, probably the Gastineau Channel, with a long shoreline at the left, possibly Douglas Island. A green mountain slopes steeply to the water's edge, with more snowcapped peaks in the distance at right. On the shore, houses and other structures are built into the hillside overlooking the water. A few seaborne vessels are visible on the channel. The number "4" is imprinted on the frame at the upper left.
