Alaska Juneau Mine, Silver Bow Basin 010
The Alaska Juneau continued to mine from pits and trenches until 1913 when the company's Gold Creek Tunnel was completed from Last Chance Basin to undercut the ore body at the south side of the 30—stamp mill. The current Glory Hole is the result of their underground mining. A trail to the "Glory Hole Overlook" leads past the old 30—stamp mill. The area was referred to as "Little Treadwell" because it re—used 5—stamp mill from the Treadwell Company. This stamp mill now stands near the big shelter on Sandy Beach in Douglas.
