Description:
A photographic slide in a small cardboard Kodachrome frame (off white with yellow and red corner trim). The frame is labeled "Boats 7—5—59" in handwriting. The image shows a body of water in the foreground, extending into the middling area. It is probably the Gastineau Channel. The far shore in the background is mountainous, and the peaks within the frame bear very little snowcap. This far shore is probably the southern end of the eastern coast of Douglas Island. There is a line of boats stretching from the center foreground into the background at right, their prows facing the general direction of the camera as they travel toward the left of the image. Other indiscernable vessels travel in the distance in the background near the far shore. The number "30" is printed in red ink on the frame at the upper left.
