Description:
A photographic slide in a small cardboard frame (off white with red rear text "Color Transparency"). The frame is labeled "Doug + Mt Jumbo from timberline on Mt. Roberts 8/23/64" in handwriting. The image shows an aerial view of the Gastineau Channel and Douglas Island beyond it. The Channel and a sliver of the Juneau shore at left occupy the foreground, while Douglas Island extends from the middling area into a shallow background. The mountains on Douglas Island, Mount Jumbo at center, extend across the entirety of the background. Below their slopes, the structures of Douglas proper lie in a grid going upward from the water's edge. A long pier juts from the Douglas shore at center. The number "9" is printed in ink on the frame at the upper left.
