Description:
A photographic slide in a small cardboard frame (off white with red rear text "Color Transparency"). The frame is labeled "A—J Fire 3/20/65" in handwriting. The image shows a flat view of the Gastineau Channel in the foreground, leading to the Juneau shore in the middling area. The shore lies under the shadow of a heavily snowcapped mountain, probably Mount Roberts. The structures of the A.J. mine facility are cut into the mountainside at left, and are billowing gray smoke. There are other structures lining the shore underneath the mine complex all the way to the image's right edge. The number "17" is printed in ink on the frame at the upper left.
