Artist's Note:
Dense blue glacial ice is revealed while looking through a Moulin on the Mendenhall Glacier. Carved by the actions of water and wind, moulins transport surface water through glaciers. Through the "window" created by this Moulin a melt stream is revealed as well. Melt streams transport surface water across the surface of glaciers where they often flow into moulins and disappear into the ice. This particular section of an old Moulin is no longer in use and has been "retired" by the glacier as the melt waters it is used to contain have found a new and faster way to the sea.
