Description:
A photographic slide in a small cardboard Kodachrome frame (off white with yellow and red corner trim). The frame is labeled "Part of Crowd — Flag Raising 7—4—59" in handwriting. The image shows a diagonal view of the southwestern corner of the State Capitol building, captured from Fourth Street. There is a large crowd at the side of the building on Main Street, with a brass band in front of it. They are looking toward the left, at the unseen Juneau Memorial Library, where the raising of the 49 star United States flag over Alaska is occurring. A large yellow balloon floats above the crowd at the corner of Main and Fourth Streets. The number "25" is printed in red ink on the frame at the upper left.
