Description:
A photographic slide in a small cardboard Kodachrome frame (off white with yellow and red corner trim). The frame is labeled "Flag Raising 7—4—59" in handwriting. The image shows a frontal view of the Juneau Memorial Library, with a crowd of men in military uniform and various others standing on its lawn. Between the two flagpoles, a small grandstand has been erected, draped in blue and yellow heraldry. Blue and yellow streamers also hang from the roof of the building. A uniformed man is raising the new 49 star United States flag onto the left flagpole. The uniformed men on the lawn have their hands raised in salute. The number "24" is printed in red ink on the frame at the upper left.
