Description:
Black and white photograph of two men listening to a man give directions and other two men standing near the back of a fire truck.
Black and white photo shows six men doing various fire related activities. Two men stand near the rear end of a fire truck. Both of these men have their backs to the camera. Only the rear end of the fire truck can be seen in the photograph. Hoses and other fire equipment covered by a tarp can be seen from the the fire engine with license plate "X 1185". Various black hoses attached to the fire truck are draped in different directions across the ground which is covered in snow. Two men listen to Assistant Chief Sev Swanson give directions. Both of these men appear to be in the process of gearing up into fire jackets, pants, helmets, and oxygen tanks. On the proper left of the photograph, the assistant chief, Sev Swanson, is wearing a black fur cap and holding what appears to be a large walkie—talkie. A station wagon and a white camper can be seen behind Sev Swanson. Also on the proper left, a sixth man appears to be holding a hose like object in the background. Trees and white smoke can also be seen in the background. The roofline of a house can be seen in the upper corner of the proper left.

The reverse is labeled in black ink "1972 / Assist. Ch / S Swanson". A sticker is also attached to the reverse and is labeled in black ink " Larry Stevens / 515 N. Franklin Street / Juneau, AK 99801 / (907) 586—3689".
