Description:
A photographic slide in a small cardboard frame (off white with red rear text "Color Transparency" and front logo for Perfect Photo, Inc.). The frame is labeled "raising Goose Juno[sic] — 8—16—68" in handwriting. The image shows a downward looking lateral view of an aircraft, a Grumman G—21 Goose, being raised off or onto a wooden dock by a crane. The crane seems to be grounded on a barge at left, situated between two wooden piers, one closer to the foreground and the other closer to the background. In front of the nearer pier, another aircraft, probably a float plane, sits in the water. In the distant background, Douglas Island sits across the Gastineau Channel. The number "18" is printed in ink on the frame at the lower right, and the text "AUG68" is etched on the lower edge, possibly signifying the date of development.
