Black and white photographic print of four men standing on the deck of a ship. They are located at the bow. One man at the very tip of the bow is wearing a white hat, dark colored clothing and gloves. He is holding a wire rope that is extending down past the edge of the image. The other three men are behind him. Two of the men are standing. One has a white hat, one a black hat. The last man has eye goggles on his forehead. Image has a white border around all four sides.There is a circular stamp located on the back of the image with text reading: "PASSED US BASE 1733 ARMY EXAMINER". There is a piece of black paper and tape attached to the back of the print at approximately center. In the upper proper left corner, handwritten text written in black ink reads: "P—510 \ AL SCHUPP \ JIM HARTLEY".
Notes:
The US AFF P—510 was an emergency rescue boat in the Aleutians during WWII. 11th Air Force bombed Kiril Islands of Northern Japan in 1943—1945. The 10th Emergency Rescue Boat was assigned to them to recover air crews ditched at sea. The P—510 was built in 1944 by Fellows and Stuart in Wilmington, California with two 1500 HP Packard Engines. It was 85 feet long. Its official description was an Offshore Rescue Boat stationed at Attu.
