Black and white photographic print of four men working on an engine. On the engine the word "Packard" is visible. The engine is suspended by a cord and hook. One man at approximately center in a white hat is leaning on the engine. Two men stand behind him. The man to the proper right has the name "PETE" on his overalls. All three men are in military garb. Only the right hand of the man in the foreground is visible on the engine. Image has a white border around all four sides. Back has two sections of black paper and tape where the photograph was once attached to an album page. One location in the upper proper left corner and one in the lower proper right corner. There is a circular stamp located on the back of the image with text reading: "PASSED BY US BASE 1733 ARMY EXAMINER".
Notes:
The US AFF P—510 was an emergency rescue boat in the Aleutians during WWII. 11th Air Force bombed Kiril Islands of Northern Japan in 1943—1945. The 10th Emergency Rescue Boat was assigned to them to recover air crews ditched at sea. The P—510 was built in 1944 by Fellows and Stuart in Wilmington, California with two 1500 HP Packard Engines. It was 85 feet long. Its official description was an Offshore Rescue Boat stationed at Attu.
