Description:
Color photograph of the fire at the Baranof Fire.
The front of the Baranof takes up most of the photograph, but the street in front of the hotel is also visible. The street is filled with yellow fire hoses.The hoses are spraying a huge stream of water into the front door. Two fireman in yellow uniforms with tanks on their backs are sitting on the hoses that are spraying. To their proper left there is another fireman with a black uniform and tank on his back holding a fire hose standing up. In front of these three firemen are two men. One is wearing a white shirt and sunglasses and the other is wearing a black shirt and red hat. A fireman in a yellow uniform to the proper right of the spray of water is holding open the door. Another man is coming out of the building and trying to duck under the water. Behind the fireman sitting on the hoses is a man identified as J. Kemp. He is wearing a light blue shirt with the sleeves rolled up and dark blue jeans.
