Head of Salmon Creek Valley Storage Basin 027A
By 1913 a 175 foot high dam was being built in Salmon Creek Basin by the Alaska Gastineau Mining Company to harness electrical power for its new mill south of Juneau. Gravel used in the concrete was dug by power scrapers from this valley, which eventually formed a lake when the dam was completed in 1914.
