Title:
Landslide in Juneau, 1962
Place:
Juneau, Alaska
Date:
March 22, 1962
Year Range from:
1962
Year Range to:
1962
Description:
A photographic slide in a small cardboard Kodachrome frame (off white with yellow and red corner trim). The frame is labeled "Slide Juneau '62" in handwriting. The image shows an exterior, a small grass area at the foot of a hill, the same from the previous slide but in a closer, tighter shot. Captured diagonally, the image shows a number of broken trees jutting from the torn grass at the foreground into the middling area. Three taller, jagged trunks stand toward the right of the image. Beyond, the hillside looms above, with a tree line on the right slope and snowcap at the peak. Trees at left in the foreground and at right in the background seem to be intact, suggesting that the landslide was contained to a certain point at the middle of the hillside. The number "17" is printed in ink on the frame at the upper left. Also bears the printed text "JUL 62P" on the bottom edge, perhaps indicating when the slide was developed.
