Title:
Dan Williams and others Boarding Plane for Juneau
Date:
1931
Description:
Black and white photograph of four men and one woman standing in front of a float plane (sea plane) which is tied up along a shoreline. The tail of the aircraft is toward the land. Text on the side of the aircraft identifies it as part of the Alaska—Washington Airways fleet. The woman and at least two of the men are standing on back end of the aircraft's left pontoon. They are all holding bags. The woman is wearing a dress, jacket and hat. The man next to her is wearing boots, a neck tie and a button up cardigan. The man in the middle is wearing a white shirt and next tie. The two men toward the proper left of the image are both wearing dark suits and hats. The man farthest to the proper left (closest to the plane's tail) is identified by a caption in the album as Dan Williams. Tree covered mountains in background.
Notes:
Located in photo album (2013.08.011A). Attached to album page by corner tabs. White text on album page below the photograph reads: "All aboard For Juneau — Dan Williams Supt. of Hirst '31". There is an arrow pointing up directly above the "D" in "Dan". It points to the man on the far proper left in the image.

The album belonged to William G. Brian Harland. He was a mechanic for Alaska—Washington Airways and Alaska Southern Airways. He was based out of Juneau.
