Four page "The Juneau Independent" newspaper, Vol V1, No. 44." Printed on newsprint paper using red and black ink. Front page at top center inscription "The Juneau Independent" followed by masthead with address, volume, city, date and price. Headline in red ink, centered, "ALASKA / RECEIVES / STATEHOOD" / "These Men Helped Get the Job Done". Under headline, six black and white photos of legislators and copy of benediction by Bishop O'Flanagan's. Articles all devoted to statehood issue plus several advertisements. Date of inside pages is "6/25/58". Probably special issue re: Statehood.
