Scope & Content:
2006.11.253C First day of issue cover. Envelope commemorating the admission of Alaska to statehood. On upper proper right: "First Day of Issue; oval portrait of William H. Seward; partial map of central Alaska and Southeast Alaska; image of totem pole. On lower proper right an easel symbol with Art Craft over it; "President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed Alaska statehood bill July 7, 1958". Upper center is a postmark for Juneau Alaska on Jan 3 9 am 1959. Upper proper left is "US AIR MAIL 7" (cents) cancelled with "FIRST DAY OF ISSUE'". The stamp is shades of blue with a map of the state of Alaska with the Big Dipper and north star on top. The stamp back ground is tree covered hills in front of snow covered peaks. The envelope flap in folded inside the envelope.
