Envelope addressed in gray ink has approximately. 1.0 inch ripped off right edge. Printed in black with etched background top center. Brown two cent stamp of Washington's profile printed on envelope, with one half torn away. Round black postmark for Sept 22, 2:30pm, San ____, Cal. Oval pink postmark is for Sept 21, 1887, Eureka, Cal., Wells, Fargo & Co Express. Third small black postmark on stamp probably reads "14". Reverse below flap stamped "HYDESVILLE" in ornate purple letters.
