Journal with dark red binding on spine and corners, main part of book dark grey with curved and chain—like patterns on the covers. Lightly on cover in pencil, "minutes." 149 lined beige pages. All but a few near the back have been written on in pen or pencil. A complete list of firemen from 1898 to 1903. There are a few names in the front cover, and cover page R. McKanna and C. Erickson. Lists of members First page lists order of business, journal skips from December 2 1910 to March 15, 1911. Meetings are sporadic after that. Mention of activities of firemen's ball and entertainment and recreation that occurs at that dance. Touches also on theater, baseball, dance, music, store, ohman hall, restaurant, "jap" laundry, WIlliam Hicks, beach, lumber mill, treadwell, badges, uniforms,

Many more names than those listed in people section...Willette's handwritten notes in ref file include more. She says, in part, "Feb 1898 meeting was called for the purpose of organizing a volunteer fire department. First officers were Frank Copp chairman, Charles Fox Secretary, M.C. Howell Treasurer, nad J.M. McDonald first chief. To eb known as Douglas Fire Department Hose Co #1. List of first volunteers. Roene appointed inspector of flumes nad chimneys 9/12/1899
