    Scope & Content:
    Small grey paper covered book.  Front inscription: "Department of the Interior, United States Geological Survey, George Otis Smith Director, Bulletin 502, The Eagle River Region, Southeastern Alaska, By Adolph Knopf, Washington, Government Printing Office, 1912"   Small USGS logo in middle of cover below "Knopf".  Several rust colored stains on cover.  Inside first page is identical to cover, but has "Peterson" at top.  Book has sixty one pages..  Front and back cover of grey card stock paper.  Logo of landscape with geologic rock sections in lower one third.   Belt is looped around bottom one half  with  buckle at bottom.  Two  geologist's hammers are crossed behind landscape with hammer heads punched through at top.  Inside back cover has envelope for map, which is not present.
