    Scope & Content:
    Large black leather bound book has five ridges across spine and rectangular 0.375" gold border, 8 .75 " x 5.5" on front and back.  Book paper edges are gilded. Holy Bible contains Old and New Testaments in King James translation and illustrated with maps and engravings of Bible scenes. Twelve hundred forty four (1244) pages.
"Leona Marie L. August. 1, 1950" is on the Register of Births adjacent to page 952.
Inscription: "HOLY BIBLE" in gilded letters on the spine.
"Presented to the First Congregational Church in Alaska at Douglas City by the Y.P.S.C.E. of the First Congressional Church Rockford Ill. First used Sunday February 19th 1899." on fly leaf.

    Purchased by donor at an ALASKA NATIVE BROTHERHOOD auction circa 1960. He separated the glued fly leaf from the cover to reveal the inscription.
