The Daily Alaska Empire — Juneau, Alaska, Page three(3), dated Tuesday, September 9, 1952. Center headline reads: "DOOMED LINE AT REST ON ROCK—STUDDED LENA POINT" and has a photograph of the Princess Kathleen with three people in the foreground. Photograph caption reads: "Above shot by J. Malcolm Greany of Juneau, show the stricken Princess Kathleen as she lay wedged on the rocky shlef of Point Lena. By the itme this picture was taken, all / passengers had been safely removed from the ship. Note the sharp list to port (about 20 degrees) and the steadily sinking stern section. About an hour and a half later, the / ship slipped back into the deep water, nose up into the air where she hung quivering, then swiftly sank in 20 fathoms. Only the tip of her mast remained visible after she settled / to the bottom of the channel. (AP Wirephoto)."
