Bernhofer family came to Alaska early in the 1900's when father died and lived in Skagway with an aunt. The aunt sent Marye to Germany to train in opera. She performed a concert in Juneau in 1929. The Harrie Machine Shop sponsor on back was a business co—owned by Marye's brother John Berhofer.
