My Dear George and Family,
I received your Kind Letter which found me in good health, hopeing this Letter will find you all well on its arrival, and I was glad to here from you as I neavour get many Letters Any more from Missouri Since your Father Died. I have not herd a word Direct from your Brother Wm for over one year, but I know he is in the Cape Nome Country yet but I do not know how he is doing. The way I here from him is through Mr. Ashby. But I don't think he has mead anything yet, the last Letter I wrote to him I wanted him to come back and Stay with me as he could always make a Little money here and besides he would be Company for me
I neavour here anything of the McCormick Boys I suppose the[y] don't remember me anymore when you write again let me know how the[y] are getting along and tell me George, What has become of your Brother Wm.'s two children. we are having a fine winter up here for So far, and plenty of people comeing into Alaska Most of them are going to Valdeze on the Copper River but they are comeing Into the Country too Soon as the month of May is soon plenty. You Mother neavour writes to me any more, the Town of Juneau is getting to be a Large City with all moderan Improvements. Same as in Your Country only we have more Beautifull Country to live in along the Sea—Shore. My Boys have grown up nearly to Manhood and the[y] are two of the best Scholars of their age in the State of Oregon. William John is 19 years old and Richard T. is 17. past last fall the[y] send you and your Family their Kind Love. I am getting along as well as can be expected as I am in my 70th year and I don't look older than 50 years, I have no grey hairs yet and I weigh 170 lbs, I get a Letter from your Sister Mary Every two or three weeks and Charles is doing fine he is putting in ann Electric Plant in Grand Encampment Wyoming well
George give my kind Love to your wife and Little Children and try and make Something for yourself and family for I think you have got a good wife as Mary speaks well of hir and I cain believe Mary everything she says. And I think as much of Mary as my own Boys. She is a good Kind Woman to hir old uncle, as you know I allways did like your Sister Mary I want you to give me all the news of my friends and your Mother and Brothers. I will close for this time, kiss the Children for Uncle
