Group of bound Juneau High School year books (annual) 1906—1912 bound in red leather and gold lettering. Back inside covers burgundy and gold marbled endpaper. Bookplate of James Wickersham on inside front cover.
Seven bound volumes of the yearly publication of Juneau High School, each year different in size and in length. 1906 is the first year of this publication.
1906—local business advertisements, articles on the history of Juneau High School, stories, poems, club reports, sports articles and team photos, faculty and senior class biographies photos. (pages 1—32)
1907—local business advertisements, photo of old Government School class, poems, commencement announcements and the following articles:
"The last days of the old Government School", "In the rush to the Klondike."
1908—slightly larger cover, 8.5 X 14" size horizontal; appears not to be the original layout. (pages 1—31) Black and White photos of faculty, Totem staff, graduates, Glee Club, and Perseverance Mine, showing mouth of tunnel. various articles, and other writings.
1909— A more extensive volume: business ads, both local and outside Alaska, (27) total. Multiple articles/stories written by students,
black and white photos of senior class, faculty, The debating team, drawings, poems; etc. Larger volume: (pages 1—120) Of note: section entitled In Memorium of 1907 class graduate, Edward Theodore Kennedy, who drowned on May 20, 1909. Beautiful Eulogy written by Emma S. Yule, Faculty. Many thoughtful articles.
1910— no printed cover, bound with gray cardstock . Pages are not numbered. Nine pages of local business advertisements; photograph from the senior play, photographs of the senior class: men on one side, women on the other side. Each individual is identified. Graduating class biographies with portraits.
1911— Front cover: Title "The Totem", and dated with totem art in green and red. Pages numberd 1—87. Article on Totemism: photo of The Kad—A—Shan totem, Wrangel, photo of The creator Totem, and The Totem of Ductut the Black, the Tlinget Hercules. Chief Shake's Totem. One photo of The Beaver Totem. Photograph of the Debating team with identifications.
1912—Front cover design different from 1911: Heavy, mottled brown cardstock cover, Cover lettering is drawn totems fashioned into letters to spell The Totem with an oval black and white photo of Chief Shake's Totem.
Pages 1—61, many interesting article written subjects ranging from "Alaska Tenderfeet", to "Indian Customs and Superstitions." Photographs.
