Description:
Small metal folding buttonhook embossed with "Hook up with Nelson's Shoe Store" on one side and "N.G. Nelson Juneau, Alaska" on other. Small rectangular shaped advertising object opens like a knife. Inside on base of hook is printed "PAT'D Apr. 14, 1903".
Notes:
Items belonged to Edwin C & Mary Elizabeth Johnson. They were married in Juneau in 1940. Ed came to AK 1935 (Ketchikan) & to Juneau 1937. He worked at cutting halibut, returning south in 1940, returned. He continued to work in the fish business. He was dock foreman in 1943, worked in Ketchikan '46 — '49. Had his own buying business in 1949. He became manager of Juneau Cold Storage plant in 1970's. Ed was on Juneau—Douglas City Council 1950's. Mary Elizabeth served on Douglas School Board 1944. She was responsible for simplicity of Douglas house numbering system.
