Description:
A — Parlor stove, painted black over original wood—grain iron, rectangular shape sitting on four embossed iron legs. Grill work on top and front. Two doors on front with lever—type handles, one for fire box, other for ash removal. On proper left side is opening for handle to shift fire box grates. On back is circular opening for chimney pipe.
B — Pipe adapter(?), 16 inches in length of two—piece iron pipe with oval end fitting directly into fire box; opposite end in circular shape to fit additional pipe or chimney opening.
C — Detachable iron handle with two openings.
D — Detachable iron handle with two openings and wire coiled around upper handle.
Inscription: Embossed on metal plate on back of stove: "NO. 113 / GRAY & DUDLEY / CO. / NASHVILLE".
Notes:
Purchased at Flag of All Nations, c. 1976, who got it from Jay Crondahl. Reported to be from Starr Hill House.
