Brown Glazed Ceramic Insulator w/ Attachment
Description:
Brown glazed porcelain ceramic insulator with three stacked and flared sections; extending from base is galvanized rod with flange and threaded end for insertion into cross bar of electrical pole (see illustration in document file).
Inscription: On very top, on unglazed area, stamped in blue: "570639"
Etched on top of second section: "W (inside flared 'U') 3895" — probably Westinghouse (see doc. file.)
Notes:
From Perseverance Trail about 1/2 mile above Ebner Falls on Mt. Juneau side, per donor. Insulator is very similar to 1 found in 1926—1928 Westinghouse catalog #8687 (JDCM AEL&P reference), referred to as porcelain pin—type, "FARADOID" patented trade mark (reference material in doc file)
