Description:
Five plain green tin cans of C—rations, three with a key on the bottom for opening. Contents printed on lid in black ink as follows:
A) 4.75 inch by 4 inch by 4 inch "Bread Type Unit".
B) 3.5 inch by 3 inch by 3 inch "B—1 Unit coffee, sugar, crackers, milk, jam, cocoa".
C) 3.5 inch by 3 inch by 3 inch "B—2 Unit coffee, candy, crackers, milk, sugar cookie.
D) 3 inch by 2.75 inch by 2.75 inch "soluble coffee product with ascorbic acid". No key.
E) 3 inch by 3 inch by 2 inch "soluble milk" . No key.
Notes:
"C—ration" stood for Combat Ration, later replaced by K—rations (named for inventor and nutritionist Keyes) which came in cardboard boxes. See donor file. Duplicate of B in education collection. Another duplicate of B is opened and accessioned as 2004.21.013A—F
