Description:
Light blue T—shirt with dark blue text/image. The word "KADASHAN" runs horizontally above the image of a chainsaw cutting a salmon's head off. Verso is blank. Cloth tag located on the interior collar identifies the T—shirt as a Hanes product made of 50% combed cotton and 50% polyester, made in the U.S.A and size M (38—40).
Notes:
This t—shirt was made by SEACC in the early 1980s (1983—1984) during a Forest Plan Revision for the Tongass National Forest. Kadashan is a bay in the Tenakee Inlet on Chichagof Island. It was the third highest producer of pink salmon in northern southeast Alaska. ADF&G studied its bear population. They found a very high density of brown bears at Kadashan due to the large numbers of fish. The Forest Service had placed Kadashan in the logging base so SEACC and Chichagof Conservation Council were asking for special protection for the watershed.
