Description:
Canvas back pack. Soft pack. No frame. Opens to 12.5 inches by 5.25 inches by 12.5 inches. Single top flap fastens through "D" ring at bottom of pack with 0.625 inch by 31inches cotton web strap. Expanding pocket (8.25 inch by 7.25 inch) sewn to front of pack with brass eyes for tying closed. Old cotton shoelace tied into brass eye on upper edge of front of pack. 11 iron "D" rings sewn with cotton web into seams around outside of back. Pack straps are 1.5 inch cotton web sewn onto upper edge of back of pack w/ leather patch and later(?) riveted. Red head duck is logo on label.
Inscription: Cotton tag sewn inside top flap: "RED HEAD / BRAND / "R" in circle / FITS THE SPORT".
Notes:
Used for duck hunting by Thomas S. Parke during 1930s, 1940s and 1950s. May have originated from his home in N. Dakota during the 1910s and 1920s.
