Description:
Large Platinum Crucible
A: Crucible (metal)
Short hollow metal column. Has spout on one side. Fits inside Crucible holder bottom.

B: Wooden crucible holder (bottom)
Round wooden column. With solid base, but no top. From top down about three quarters of the center is hollowed out. A small nitch is on one side for spout of crucible. On bottom says: US8M / 20578 (carved into wood and covered in red color). Also on bottom is the remains of a item number sticker.

C: Crucible holder (top)
Round wooden top for crucible holder bottom. Top is wider then bottom. Fits into crucible holder bottom. Used to reform the inside bowl of the crucible after use.
Notes:
Used for high temperature chemical analysis. Because of its high melt point and non—reactive properties it is good for high temperature testing.

The wooden crucible holder has two purposes: it is said to hold crucible when not in use, and it is used to reform the platinum metal so that it retains its shape.
