Jaw Type Animal Trap with Anchoring Chain and Hook, No. 5 Teeth

Description:
Jaw type animal trap. 10 inch jaw opening. 4 inch diameter plate on release mechanism. 44 inch welded iron chain attaches 12 inch iron anchoring hook to trap. Chain attached to trap with welded iron link and swivel. Chain and anchor hook connected by 5 inch welded iron ring. Connection for anchor hook to 5 inch ring is multi—stranded copper wire. 44 inch chain consists of 11 inches of about 0.375 inch chain, 3 inch link and another 30 inches of 0.4375 inch chain. Chain, attaching links and hook hand forged and well worn. Six opposing teeth, three on each side, under side of trap jaws.
Inscription: Embossed on trap release plate: "No. 5" in center
Around upper half of plate "(?) N E W HOUSE"
Around lower half of plate "COMMUNITY, N.Y."
