Description:
Ink illustration published in the Juneau Empire by the artist Tony Newman. Three panel cartoon illustration telling the story of Juneau's desire to get computer broadband service. Illustration is titled: "THREE THINGS WE CAN DO TO GET GOOGLE'S BROADBAND SERVICE". The first panel has a drawing of a jet plane taking off in front of mountains and a welcome sign with Juneau spelled: "JOONEAU". The second panel shows two doors with the symbols for man and woman as on a restroom door. The third panel shows a dog wearing a red cross insignia and peering over a cliff at a person seated on a ledge.
Notes:
A cartoon by Tony Newman about Juneau's entering itself in an attempt to lure Google broadband computer access to Juneau. The three panels use Google terms in describing the welcome sign at the airport, the new "gmail" service of Google for personal mail, and the type of words people choose to do a search for information on the Google search engine site.
