Plane table in a silver padded carrying case.
A. Plane Table. Wooden board with a sheet of paper taped over the top and around the edges with masking tape. On the reverse at center is a metal insert that is flush with the bottom of the board, six screws hold it in place. This is where the board attaches to a tripod. Beneath the insert is manufacturer's label in red, black and silver that says: "GURLEY, MADE IN U.S.A. TROY, NEW YORK"
B. Square, silver colored canvas bag with a zipper that opens two sides. Leather carrying strap with an adjustable buckle attached to the back of the bag. Written on the back of the bag in black marker: "Federal Bureau of Mines/Juneau/Alaska" On the front at center top are two manufacture's labels, the top: "A DANALUX CANVAS PRODUCT." Bottom label: "GURLEY/ENGINEERING INSTRUMENTS TROY NY USA."
Notes:
Tables like this were used with a tripod and alidade to draw maps while in the field.
