Description:
Wood Engraving Block
Two—sided wood block. One side of the block shows a man reeling away from a ball with three rabbits inside. Outside of the ball, drops of water are flying toward the man. His mouth is open in shock and his hands are open and spread. HIs barefoot foot is lifted above a fire with hot coals and his body is tilted back on one foot. The scene is surrounded by a wave of line carvings. Up the side of one leg, the word 'canceled' is engraved into the scene.

The other side of the block shows three ducks in a pond circled in reeds. A small and medium size duck rest on the water while another duck rises from the body of water as if he is about to fly away. The larger ducks back is turned to the viewer while the smaller ducks are captured in profile. Reeds surround the ducks and break from the water at various intervals. The engraving is stained a dark brown and is surrounded by a thin dark brown border. The word 'canceled' is engraved near the bottom right hand of the frame.
