Description:
Wood Engraving Block
Two—sided woodblock. One side has a nesting loon resting in tall grasses. The birds head is bowed down with her beak almost touching the ground. Tall weeds extend up to the top of the woodcut and echo the curve of the loon's back. The loons layers of feathers are delineated in different patterns across its body. A dark black stain was used on top of a lighter wood.

On the flip side is an image called Santa and Eagle in Space. The image is of Santa standing in his sled being pulled by a harnessed raven. Toys are flying out of the sled as the raven races to a moon in the upper right—hand corner of the frame. A town with mountains in the backdrop are carved in the bottom of the scene. Santa is holding a whip which is extended up and out toward the raven and his sled also looks like a canoe of sorts.. Again, a dark black stain is used against a lighter grained wood.

On the top edge, a small round circle has 275 written in dark ink. On the bottom edge, DeArmond is written on the block in red marker while a white rectangular label has nesting loon typed on it. 'Raven flies to the Moon. 275' is typed on a white, rectangular label on left—edge of the woodcut.
