Description:
Four—quart Boston Bean Pot (A) with lid (B). Large round reed metal Hills Bros coffee can (A) with silver—gray fitted metal lid (B). Logo of man with white beard, turban, and yellow gown drinking coffee. Side seam of can folded and soldered. Upper edge and lower seam of can rolled. Band around top of can is 1 inch wide unpainted metal with remnants of sealing tape. Lid is pressed metal with lip to fit over can. Gold color on interior of lid. Interior of can tinned. Inscriptions:
Front of can "HILLS BROS/COFFEE" with smaller script
"Red Can/REG.US.PAT.OFF./Brand" and
"The Original/Vacuum Pack" and
"TRADE MARKS REG. U.S.PAT.OFF. COPYRIGHT 1939 BY HILLS BROS. COFFEE, INC."
Additional packing, roasting, and coffee making labels.
Notes:
Used as a storage container (glass balls & floats) in the attic of the Thomas S. & Vera L. Parke home. Can likely acquired during the 1940's for use as a storage canister.
