Description:
Ivory figure with drum. Figure is carved in shape of seated man with legs bent and tucked under him, holding drum(B) and drum stick (C). Details of figure's face and clothing are etched onto surface of ivory in black. Drum is paddle—shaped and drum stick is a thin square peg; both are carved from separate pieces of ivory and fit into holes drilled in figure's hands (drum on proper right, drum stick on proper left. Interior of figure is hollow, with cone—shaped hole extending from base and tapering upward toward head.
