Phonograph record with paper sleeve produced by Columbia Masterworks.

A: Phonograph record made of black resin with blue painted center. On one side at the center silver text reading: "COLUMBIA \ MASTERWORKS \ Mfrd. under Pats. Pending Trade Marks Reg. U.S. \ Pat. Off. Marcas Registradas Made in U.S.A. \ MM 725 SIDE 7 \ BRAHMS \ SYMPHONY NO. 2 IN D MAJOR, OP. 73 \ Third Movement: Allegretto grazioso \ quasi andatino (Beginning) \ ARTUR RODZINSKI conducting the \ PHILHARMOIC—SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA \ OF NEW YORK \ 12724—S \ (XCO 37021)". The other side side at the center has silver text reading: "COLUMBIA \ MASTERWORKS \ Mfrd. under Pats. Pending Trade Marks Reg. U.S. \ Pat. Off. Marcas Registradas Made in U.S.A. \ MM 725 SIDE 4 \ BRAHMS \ SYMPHONY NO. 2 IN D MAJOR, OP. 73 \ First Movement: Allegro non troppo \ (Conclusion) \ ARTUR RODZINSKI conducting the \ PHILHARMOIC—SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA \ OF NEW YORK \ 12724—D \ (XCO 37018)".

B: Brown paper sleeve for record. Opening at top and has a circular hole at center for reading the center sections on the record. Text and illustrations are dark brown. Front has text reading "Waiting to Play \ for You" in the upper proper left corner and "Victor Talking Machine Company \ Camden N. J., U.S.A." in the lower proper right corner. In the upper proper right corner is an illustration of a conductor and playing orchestra. In the lower proper left corner is an illustration of a woman adjusting a needle on a phonograph.There is a illustration of a dog looking into the horn of a record player with the text "HIS MASTERS VOICE \ REG US PAT OFF" in the lower proper right corner. The back has advertisements for three models of "Orthophonic Victrolas" record players and two lists of additional available recordings. There is a red and white paper sticker on the back of the sleeve directly above the center hole with blue hand written text reading: "85a".
Notes:
Record from the Augustus Brown collection. Brown donated 1,500+ records to the Memorial Library. In the 1980's approximately 800—900 were purchased by donor's father.
