Acquired by Juneau Centennial Committee. House of Wickersham was purchased by a private party from Ruth Allman, Judge Wickersham's niece. It was than purchased by the State, to be run as a museum, in 1983. Originally land under house was part of placer claim, which extended over hill to Gold Creek. House was built in 1899 for Frank Hammond, owner of Sheep Creek Mining Co. and later (1928) purchased by Judge Wickersham, who lived there until his death in 1939. Ruth operated house as tourist attraction from the 1960s until purchased by the State.
