Description:
A photographic slide in a small cardboard frame (off white with red rear text "Color Transparency"). The frame is labeled "Entrance Lituya Bay — 9—14—66" in handwriting. The image shows an aerial view (probably captured from an aircraft) of the mouth of Lituya Bay, as well as nearly its entire extent to the wall of mountains at the rear which enclose it. The foreground features two strips of land, the one at left much narrower than the one at right, which bulges into a circular shape. The strip at left feeds into a shoreline boasting a continuous wall of mountains surrounding the bay into the background. The mountains go out of sight at top right. Toward the center of the image, an island is visible in the bay. The number "10" is printed in ink on the frame at the upper left.
