Description:
A photographic slide in a small cardboard frame (off white with red rear text "Color Transparency"). The frame is labeled "Between Lituya Bay + Yakutat 9—14—66" in handwriting. The image shows an aerial view (probably captured from an aircraft) of a section of unknown mountainous coastline. A wide section of ocean water stretches across the foreground, coming to a stop at a rounded shore in the middling area. Beyond the shore at center—right, there is a small X—shaped lake, seemingly fed by what may be a glacier or a low tidal inlet. Beyond the lake is a wide plain leading to a wall of high snowcapped mountains which close out the background. The sky beyond is a heavy leaden gray. The number "12" is printed in ink on the frame at the upper left.
