Description:
A photographic slide in a small cardboard frame (off white with red rear text "Color Transparency"). The frame is labeled "Approaching Yakatat[sic] 9—14—66" in handwriting. The image shows an aerial view (probably captured from an aircraft) of a section of grassy coastline near Yakutat. There is a sliver of blue ocean water visible at the lower right foreground, broken by an outer bank parallel to the principle shore. The shore itself is green and brown, with sections of standing water, as if it constitutes one large swamp or tidal flat. In the distant background stands a wall of snowcapped peaks, with what could be a narrow body of water or a glacier in the center. A thin line of clouds hangs over the mountains. The number "14" is printed in ink on the frame at the upper left.
