Description:
A photographic slide in a small cardboard frame (off white with red rear text "Color Transparency"). The frame is labeled "Ferry — Auke Bay 5/19/64" in handwriting. The image shows a ferry vessel of the Alaska Marine Highway moored to a mostly unseen pier at right. The ferry is sizable, with a dark hull and whitewashed upper decks, and a single smokestack at center on the top deck. The prow is curved and has lines stretching up to the superstructure above the bridge. The vessel is captured from a diagonal and is facing the right of the image. At right, beyond the pier, some mountains can be glimpsed on a far shore. The number "16" is printed in ink on the frame at the upper left.
