Description:
Black and white photographic print of a moving ship's wake from the stern of the ship. The water is bubbled and sprayed into the air. A pile of coiled rope is on the ship's deck . Image has a white boarder around all four sides. Back has two sections of black paper and tape where the photograph was once attached to an album page. One in the upper proper left corner and one in the lower proper left corner. A circular stamp on the back has text which reads: "PASSED BY US BASE 1733 ARMY EXAMINER".
Notes:
The US AFF P—510 was an emergency rescue boat in the Aleutians during WWII. 11th Air Force bombed Kiril Islands of Northern Japan in 1943—1945. The 10th Emergency Rescue Boat was assigned to them to recover air crews ditched at sea. The P—510 was built in 1944 by Fellows and Stuart in Wilmington, California with two 1500 HP Packard Engines. It was 85 feet long. Its official description was an Offshore Rescue Boat stationed at Attu.
