A photographic slide in a small cardboard Kodachrome frame (brown with red trim). The frame is labeled "Boat Races 7—3—49" in handwriting. The image shows a body of water, possibly the Gastineau Channel, with a section of snowcapped mountain range in the background. There are three boats on the water in the foreground, all docked at the barge on the right. A smaller craft, possibly a rowboat, is also docked at the barge. In the background, what looks like a military vessel is visible. The number "18" is imprinted on the frame at the top left.
