Description:
Postcard. The front has black and white photograph of a two passenger steamship cruisers; one is sinking. The front sinking steamer is tilting over the proper right side of the image. The anchor is seen hanging off the bow. Men are seen on the deck and in the eagle's nest of the sinking ship. The word "MARIECHEN" is visible on the side of the ship. The other steamer has smoke billowing from the one stack. It is pulled up along side the sinking ship at its stern. Indiscernible text is visible on the side of its bow. Below the bow of the sinking ship is white text reading: "S.S. MARIECHEN \ FALSE BAY, ALASKA \ W + P". Land and trees are seen in the background to the proper right. Water in foreground.

The back has typed black text along toward the top edge at approximately center which reads: "POST CARD \ CORRESPONDENCE ADDRESS". There is also a dashed—line box to the proper right of this text surrounding the text: "PLACE STAMP HERE". At the top of this box are the stylized letters: "EKC".
