Description:
Set of three (3) sample postcards from box (2014.11.034 A—B) used at Paul Bloedhorn's jewelry shop. These three postcards feature photographs from Sitka.
A: Black and white horizontal postcard. Front has a photograph of a city on a coastline at the base of a mountain. Buildings, docks and boats visible along coast. Mountains in background have snow on them. In the lower proper right corner is an illustration of a scroll with text reading: "HISTORIC CITY OF \ SITKA ALASKA". In the upper proper left corner is purple text stamped on to the card which reads: "SAMPLE \ PLEASE ORDER BY NUMBER \ THIS IS NO. _______ \ Scenic Photo Publishing Co. \ 614 1st Ave. SEATTLE". On the line for the number is "PSA13" handwritten in black ink. One the back is black typed text reading: "SCENIC PHOTO PUBLISHING CO. SEATTLE WASH \ POST CARD \ CORRESPONDENCE ADDRESS". There are two black horizontal lines between the "POST CARD" and "CORRESPONDENCE ADDRESS".
B: Black and white vertical postcard. Front has a photograph of a group of four (4) people standing next to one (1) large totem pole and four (4) smaller totem poles. Only the backs of two of the smaller totem poles are visible, not the front carvings. Trees in background. White text along the lower edge reads: "THE MEMORIAL TOTEM SITKA ALASKA". Along the upper edge is purple text stamped on to the card which reads: "SAMPLE \ PLEASE ORDER BY NUMBER \ THIS IS NO. _______ \ Scenic Photo Publishing Co. \ 614 1st Ave. SEATTLE". On the line for the number is "T15" handwritten in black ink. One the back is black typed text reading: "SCENIC PHOTO PUBLISHING CO. SEATTLE WASH \ POST CARD \ CORRESPONDENCE ADDRESS". There are two black horizontal lines between the "POST CARD" and "CORRESPONDENCE ADDRESS". The number "15" is handwritten in pencil in the upper proper right corner.
C: Black and white vertical postcard. Front has a photograph of a two totem poles standing in a clearing. Trees in background and foreground surround the pole. Another piece of vertical wood is near the totem poles but no carvings are visible (back of a totem pole). White text along the lower edge reads: "Totem National Monument \ SITKA, ALASKA". Along the upper edge is purple text stamped on to the card which reads: "SAMPLE \ PLEASE ORDER BY NUMBER \ THIS IS NO. _______ \ Scenic Photo Publishing Co. \ 614 1st Ave. SEATTLE". On the line for the number is "TO15" handwritten in black ink. One the back is black typed text reading: "SCENIC PHOTO PUBLISHING CO. SEATTLE WASH \ POST CARD \ CORRESPONDENCE ADDRESS".
